The Armstrong Fence name is rooted dated back to the Jacksonville area since sometime in mid-1900’s. As once being one of the most successful well-known family-owned fence companies; after many years of success, the business closed its doors sometime in the 1980’s.
Fast forward to 2003, an Arizona based family of five moved to Jacksonville, Florida in an eager pursuit of the American dream. Being in the fence business since the age of 16, the father, Don set his goals out to building a fence business from the ground up.
Don began his fence story in 1979 as helper in a shipping and receiving department in manufacturing center. Over the next 21 years, he moved his way up through the organization of one of the nation’s largest fence companies before ending his reign as their Vice President of Operations. After moving to Florida and exploring the market for a few years, it was time for Don to set his own personal mark in the fence business.
When thinking of his business name, Don came across the legacy of the once successful family-owned business; Armstrong Fence. With wanting to build his company on such a strong similar foundation, Don decided to take on the Armstrong name. While the business as its core remains with the original founders and their family, the Armstrong name lives on through a new family era.
Don opened the Armstrong Fence Co doors in 2007 in downtown Jacksonville with a small group of Jacksonville fence natives including local Randy Williams. In a few years, Don’s daughter and son in law joined his team with his one goal in mind; to secure the southeast through superior products, passion, and hard work. Now all three of his children and two son-in-laws, join Don in his fence business dream. It has been a winning combination ever since.
